  • Oostburg (Zeeuws-Vlaams: Wòstburg) is a town in the municipality of Sluis, in the Dutch Province of Zeeland. Symbol of Oostburg is the unicorn that is said to represent the strength and courage of the population. In reality, the statue is made by Mrs. Messer-Heijbroek, inspired by the former inn De Eenhoorn that stood here. In the context of the Reconstruction, the statue landed on the unicorn plant named after the animal in 1952, where it decorated a pond with a fountain. Later the park disappeared and the original unicorn, now in the midst of a much calmer entourage, was supplemented with five identical unicorns looking down on the shoppers from the Markt from high columns. This artwork comes with a BARTH 1828 aluminum picture frame and is protected behind glass. Disclaimer: Photographing watercolors is very difficult. It looks like the paper is extremely bumpy, but in reality it is barely visible to the naked eye.
